The commute would be taxing, but all the French wines we'd have access to there versus here would be tempting...

It is going to be so much fun to follow you and G. !
I miss your wit and have yet to find a wine merchant on the east coast with as much knowledge as either one of you. Libation Staion East ? I'd love it !

I think you misunderstood where I was going with the post, I was being sarcastic. I actually love the stuff. Drank it like water for a month in South Africa. Unfortunately, many of my clients on the US West Coast do not.

Maybe you just neeed to get your palate into sync with Pinotage :) Or stock better ones...

Not heard of 'Westerland'. It is not winery name and I can't find it in Platter, who made it?

Decanter World Wine Awards (the world's biggest wine competition with 10,285 entries) this year chose a Pinotage to be awarded the best red varietal. That was Kaapzicht Estate 'Steytler' 2006.

Also I don't understand why Pinot Noir X Cinsaut should be an abomination or why you even mention the parentage. I can't see you referring to Chardonnay as a 'hybrid' of Pinot Noir and Gouais, or that Gamay is a 'hybrid' of Pinot Noir and Gouais, or that Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Petit Sirah -- and many more are 'hybrids'.

Having left the great NW for sunnier skies-Prescott AZ. I couln't help but feel a tinge of guilt knowing all my friends, customers & family members affected by the hardship of a tough winter. Until theis last couple of days of 32 degrees and six inches of snow. To my good friends Georgiann & Rich, I'm pretty sure the snow will be gone and we'll be back to 60 degrees in no time. To the rest of you up there in God's country just remember the sky is blue beyond the conditions the eye can see most days. Deborah T.
